Christie's to Broadcast Fall Sales on the Net

NEW YORK, 7 November 2000
- Following last spring's launch of live webcasts of its evening sales on, Christie's will once again broadcast live via the Internet the firm's fine art evening sales in New York. The live auctions of this November's evening sales of Impressionist & Modern art, Post-War art and Contemporary art will be simultaneously broadcast on

Since 3 November, collectors worldwide have been able to leave absentee bids via the Christie's web site up to 24 hours before each sale. Online bids are instantly transmitted to Christie's processing bid department, and clients receive an email bid confirmation. Lotfinder®, Christie's online search engine, allows clients to browse worldwide sale catalogues.

To coincide with the sales, the website features streaming video gallery talks in both Windows Media Player and Quicktime formats with Christopher Eykyn, co-head of Impressionist & Modern Art for Christie's Americas, Brett Gorvy, international specialist head of Post-War Art, as well as an interview with Italian conceptual artist Maurizio Cattelan, who is making his New York auction debut at Christie's Contemporary Art sale.
