Heaume Mask - The Makonde People (Tanzania) wood - hair -H: 24 cm - Musée Dapper

Collected on the banks of the Tanganyika by Captain W. Read, this mask is attached to the top of the head. The thrown back animal ears (antilope?) are a curious contrast to the naturalist treatment of the face.
