For eight days, some of the biggest names in sports will be in Omaha with one purpose in mind – to qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. The Omaha Sports Commission and Qwest Center Omaha will host the biggest names in swimming such as Michael Phelps, Natalie Coughlin and Amanda Beard as they vy for a spot on the U.S. Olympic team that will travel to Bejing, China for the 2008 Olympics.
The 2008 Olympic Swim trials will be held from June 29 to July 6 at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Nebraska. At the Games, swimming will be in evenings of first nine days. Attendees at the 2008 USA Swimming Olympic Trials can interact with, take photos of and get autographs from swimming legends, as well as participate in swimming-related activities. In addition to appearences from swimmers who make the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team, fans and visitors will cross paths with Olympic champions such as Mark Spitz, Matt Biondi, Pablo Morales, Donna de Varona, Jenny Thompson, Mary T. Meagher, Debbie Meyer, John Naber and Mel Stewart.
