On view at the Museu do Chiado – National Museum of Contemporary Art, located in Lisbon’s historical centre and part of the 2005 Festival Europeu Temps d’Image in Lisbon, this exhibition is devoted to South African artist William Kentridge's most recent creations: Fragments for Georges Méliès, Journey to the Moon and Day for Night, all from 2003.
William Kentridge (born in 1955, in Johannesburg where he lives and works) has gained international attention for his distinctive and unique short, animated films, and for his drawings based on erasure, as well as for his longtime commitment to the theater, specifically his collaboration with the Handspring Puppet Company, Johannesburg.
