Bare Naked Souls
In Bare Naked Souls, Dave St. Pierre, the new discovery in the Canadian dance scene, takes a look at crude reality – which actually is even much worse than what he shows us. The mixture of sex and blood in a delicate choreography turns the audience into accomplices to horrible, demeaning tortures, and it created an uproar at its premiere in July in Montréal.

Dave St. Pierre experiments and improvises with his performers on the themes of violence and cruelty. With an eye on the mechanisms of the usual cynical handling of perversion and violence, with an eye on the naked, unprotected human body – caught up in abnormal situations, unattractive and vulnerable at the same time. The performers, dancers, musicians and actors improvise with the audience’s reactions. Every evening a new show, a new performance is created together with the audience – integrating the tolerance and emotions of the audience as well as of the 14 performers.
