THE WASHINGTON POST PRESENTS JAZZ AT THE HAMILTON CONCERT SERIES |
By Culturekiosque Staff WASHINGTON, DC, 23 MAY 2012 The 2012 DC Jazz Festivals (DCJF) main venue, The Hamilton, will host Jazz at the Hamilton presented by The Washington Post 1-10 June. The series will feature 10 nights of performances from locally and nationally celebrated artists, as well a Jazz Gospel Brunch each Sunday. Performances include Randy Westons African Rhythms Trio; Monty Alexanders reggae and jazz Harlem-Kingston Express; Roy Hargrove and Jimmy Heath Quintets; New Orleans sensation The Brass-A-Holics, with guest artists, celebrating the life and legacy of Chuck Brown; master guitarist John Scofield; vocalist Roberta Gambarini, Puerto Ricos David Sanchez Quintet and Charlie Sepulveda & The Turnaround; Les Nubians; Antonio Hart Organ Trio; and Cyrus Chestnut Trio. Also featuring "Rising Stars" Jonathan Batiste, Ben Williams and Trinidad and Tobagos Etienne Charles & Kaiso, as well as D.C.s own Marshall Keys Group and vocalist Akua Allrich. In addition to the evening shows, The Hamilton will present a Jazz Gospel Brunch each Sunday, with breakfast classics and Southern dishes accompanied by a jazz performance. Vocalist Lori Williams of the Washington-based jazz ensemble Lori Williams & Friends will perform on Sunday, 3 June, and the Washington Performing Arts Societys (WPAS) Men and Women of the Choir will treat guests on Sunday, 10 June 2012.
