ISTANBUL, 11 JULY 2015 — Organised by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (ÝKSV) and sponsored by Garanti Bank, the 22nd Istanbul Jazz Festival enters its final week with jazz superstars Dave Holland, Chris Potter, Lionel Loueke, and Eric Harland. The festival closes on 15 July with promising new talents of the international jazz scene.

This concert to be held on Monday, 13 July at Cemal Reþit Rey Concert Hall features saxophonist Chris Potter, Dave Holland on bass, Lionel Loueke on the guitar, and drummer Eric Harland. Chris Potter is nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Jazz Instrumental Solo, and named the number one tenor saxophonist in the world, very well known as the leader of various accomplished jazz bands like the Underground. Dave Holland is the recipient of numerous awards including the Grammy for his recent quartet and big band projects and he has played with some of the greatest names in jazz music such as Bill Evans and Miles Davis. Lionel Loueke is a Blue Note recording artist and Eric Harland is one of the most active figures on the jazz scene lately, performing regularly with Charles Lloyd and Stefan Harris, among others.

Sinatra and Lady Day featuring Terri Lyne Carrington, Oleta Adams, Aloe Blacc and China Moses

The 22nd Istanbul Jazz Festival celebrates the musical career of Frank Sinatra and Billie Holiday on the occasion of centenary of their births in 2015. Grammy-winning jazz drummer, composer and music director Terri Lyne Carrington will lead a jazz ensemble featuring Oleta Adams, Aloe Blacc and China Moses, performing Sinatra’s most inspired music alongside Billie Holliday classics, on Tuesday, 14 July at the German Embassy Tarabya Summer Residence.      

European Jazz Club: Burak Bedikyan European Quartet 

At Salon ÝKSV on Tuesday, 14 July, pianist Burak Bedikyan, and his quartet get together with saxophonist Andy Middleton, Johannes Strasser on bass and drummer Joris Dudli, who was a long-time member of the Art Farmer Quintet.


Closing Party: Michael Kiwanuka, Hiatus Kaiyote, Theo Croker

Wednesday, 15 July at Uniq Open Air Stage. British trumpeter Theo Croker will open the night. Then, Australian neo-soul quartet Hiatus Kaiyote will take the stage. The Australian band is the first Australian group to be nominated in the "Best R&B Song" category in the Grammy Awards, with their song Nakamarra in 2013. Michael Kiwanuka will close the night.
