Deutsche Grammophon's "Double" collection reveals a good balance between rarities and mainstream products. Moreover, the "Originals", a mid-priced collection of "legendary" recordings from the Deutsche Grammophon catalogue, occasionally offers core repertoire performed by musicians whose names were synonymous with DG during the LP era, such as Wilhelm Kempff, Eugen Jochum, Ferenc Fricsay, Carlos Kleiber among others. These come either as a straightforward "2 for 1", or in the case of operas, which include the libretto, as a bargain-priced single work. This month's "Smart Buys" on Deutsche Grammophon include:
