Chamber Opera Competition

30 May 1997 - The Third International Orpheus New Chamber Opera Competition has announced its rules and regulations. Composers must be no more than 35 years old at the end of 1997, which is also the date for submission of compositions. Italian composer and Japan Prize winner Luciano Berio is the president of the jury, which this year includes André Boucourechliev, Gilbert Amy, Louis Andriessen, Michelangelo Zurletti and Peter Ruzicka. Previous winners are Augusta Read Thomas (1994) for her opera Ligheia and Helmut Oehring (1996) for Dokumentation I.
