There are three main orchestral concerts (November 20, 23, 24). The soloist in Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 24 (November 20) is the celebrated Chinese virtuoso Lang Lang, and in Brahms's Double Concerto for Violin and Cello (November 24), the solo parts will be performed by the orchestra's concertmaster Volkhard Steude and principal cellist Peter Somodari.

As in previous years, there are education and outreach events including a bassoon masterclass by the principal player Harald Muller (November 21), a free open rehearsal (November 23) and a school program (November 20).

The Wiener Philharmoniker has built close ties with Japan, and after the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, the orchestra offered a donation of one million euros to help people recover from the disaster. The Suntory Group matched the amount and set up the "Wiener Philharmoniker and Suntory Music Aid Fund", which continues to provide support through music in the Tohoku region as well as in Kumamoto.
