Composer Steve Reich and video-artist Beryl Korot used three twentieth century technology breakthroughs: crash of the Zeppelin Hindenburg in 1937, the atomic tests on the Bikini atoll in 1946 and the cloned sheep Dolly in 1997, as starting points for their digital video-opera.
Three Tales is a co-production between Wiener Festwochen, Holland Festival, Settembre Musica/Torino City Council, BITE:02 Barbican London, Festival Musica Strasburg, Festival d’Automne à Paris/Cité de la Musique, Hebbel-Theater Berlin, Centro Cultural de Belem Lisboa, Spoleto Festival and Brooklyn Academy of Music/Bam Next Wave Festival.
