Born in Mexico City, Gustavo Artigas (1970) is currently one of the most representative Mexican artists known at international level. Structuring his work, since the nineties, around the notion of “the unavoidable essence”, “the surprise”, and the possibilities of playing games within a social context, and producing confusing responses before preconceived actions.
Accidentes, Documentos y Ejecuciones Recientes, seeks to demonstrate Artigas' ability to both generate astonishment and perplexity as well as his ability to restate apparently daily themes. In this show, four pieces are on view, three of them basing their propositions on a reflection concerning the limits of death; the other is a complex installation composed of projections and photos of a mortal event. Voluntad Última, Obituario Blanco, Tres Tiempos and Sirena, are the works that comprise this show.
