Friday Night Jazz kicks off with the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance Ensemble followed the next week by Bill Holman’s seventeen-piece big band.
Along with relaxing in the courtyard while listening to performances by such artists as Alan Broadbent, Billy Childs, Pete Christlieb, and Denise Donatelli, concert-goers can also explore LACMA’s galleries for free after 5 pm. This season features a variety of exhibitions, including: The Modern West: American Landscapes, 1890–1950 (on view now), Dan Flavin: A Retrospective (May 13–August 12, 2007), The Arts in Latin America, 1492–1820 (August 5–October 28, 2007), SoCal: Southern California Arts of the 1960s and 70s from LACMA’s Collection (August 19, 2007–March 30, 2008) and Dalí & Film (October 14, 2007–January 6, 2008). In addition to these special exhibitions, film screenings take place every Friday evening in the Bing Theater.
