A visit to the American capital should always include an afternoon at The Phillips Collection, opened in 1921 in the home of Duncan Phillips (1886-1966), collector and patron. Renoir's masterpiece Luncheon of the Boating Party hangs here, along with other outstanding Impressionist paintings by van Gogh, Monet, Degas and Cézanne.
