Ballet Flamenco de Andalucia
Viaje al Sur – Journey to the South
This story is about unattainable longing. A journey inspired by the dream world of the South. The dance fantasy consists of three parts (movements) representing a stage each of the journey: Happiness, Tragedy and Passion. In the first part, music and dance evoke the scent of orange and jasmine groves, the overwhelming feast of spring. Happiness and the noblest of all feelings of sharing it with others. However, there is also the loneliness of dried-up land, of hopeless distances, the horror of senseless wars, deep and smothering pain. Tragedy itself that has come to be so closely associated with life in Andalucia. Flamenco is the only means that can help leave it all behind. And of course, going hand in hand with it, there is Passion, the unstoppable pulsation of love, the conquest of ethereal dimensions.
