Nederlands Dans Theater’s premier company presents two works by choreographer Jirí Kylián. In Tar and Feathers, a pianist improvises around Mozart’s music at a grand piano perching on metre-high legs. Against this musical back drop, six dancers perform intriguing, mysterious movement in a surreal black and white world.
Wings of Wax is set to music of Bach and Philip Glass. A complete tree hangs upside down above the action, as eight dancers emerge from the blackness, only to dissolve back into it again.
Drawn onward by Lightfoot-Leon sees the dancers faced with a massive door that periodically opens then clangs shut.
Completing the evening is Paul Lightfoot and Sol León’s Signing Off, a ballet about saying goodbye and set to Philip Glass’ Concerto for violin and orchestra.
