She's a true original, possessing the ability to integrate the finer elements of jazz, funk, American, Brazilian and soul music with an adventurous rhythmic sensibility. Not too long ago Carter also recently made international headlines by being the first non-classical violinist and first African-American to play Paganini's violin.
