Gay Days at Disney is comprised of multiple events staged at leading resort and theme park attractions, gay & lesbian clubs, and unique venues secured for the purpose of creating a gay and lesbian atmosphere at Orlando's greatest theme parks and at multiple circuit, pool and other assorted parties occurring during the long weekend. Concerts, fund raisers, talent shows, exhibitions, cruises, wedding showcases, wine tasting, a motorcycle run are among the varied events during Gay Days.
The Gay Days festival started with a theme park visit, and theme park visits remain one of the most popular Gay Days activities. Always the first Saturday in June, Gay Day in the Magic Kingdom (at Walt Disney World) is still one of the signature event of the festival. An estimated 40,000 - 50,000 red-shirted Gay Days attendees pack Walt Disney World's original park on that 1st Sat. in June. The 3 o'clock parade down Main Street always draws an unforgettable "sea of red".
Expose, Margaret Cho, Jesse Brune, Dame Edna, Mario Cantone (LAUGH WHORE!), En Vogue, Sister Sledge are among the celebrity entertainers this year.
