Carolina Chocolate Drops at Spoleto USA UNITED STATES CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA  •  The Cistern  •  4 - 5 June 2008   Made up of three young African American stringband musicians, the "Drops" are credited with reviving the rich tradition of fiddle and banjo music from the Carolina Piedmont. Under the tutelage of Joe Thompson, said to be the last black traditional stringband player, the Carolina Chocolate Drops bring string and jug-band music of the Twenties and Thirties alive with velocity and virtuosity.
