The Forsythe Company
Dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the project, HumanWrites, was created by William Forsythe and Professor Kendall Thomas from Columbia University Faculty of Law.
During the three hours performance at Antrepo No. 3, 60 dancers put their efforts in making out letters, words and sentences from the Declaration of Human Rights on tables covered with coal dust. They will endeavour to present a physical discourse concerning the reinstatement and preservation of human rights, in which the failure of such efforts is inscribed by means of a powerful body language. This compelling performance/installation also invites the audience to take part in choreography. The audience willl be free to exit and enter the theatre during the performance.
