Senator Barack Obama's easy victory (across all demographics, notably whites, older people and women) in the Vermont democratic primary in March says a great deal about this New England state.
Small wonder Vermont is host not only to the Marlboro Festival, but also the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival. In its 25th year, the ten-day event features jazz, blues, funk, gospel and Latin music. Some 40,000 revelers enjoy a mix of concerts, dances, jams, street parties, cruises on Lake Champlain and workshops. This year's lineup includes Ornette Coleman, Dave Brubeck, Joshua Redman, Paquito D'Rivera, Marcia Ball, Ledisi, Lionel Loueke, Geno Delafose French Rockin’ Boogie among others.
