The exhibition takes a fresh look at aspects of America's cultural heritage through the museum's permanent collection and includes major new acquisitions donated in honor of the opening of the new building.
The show includes paintings, watercolours, furniture, quilts, sculpture, and pottery. About one third of more than 225 objects in the exhibition is devoted to 20th century self-taught artists, placing their work in a historical continuum with transitional folk art form the permanent collection.
