The downtown area is converted into a sort of Disney Jazzland for the occasion. The producers are not reluctant to prop up a jazz festival with pop stars: The American R&B, soul and hip hop soul singer Mary J Blige and dancehall reggae star Shaggy, the San Francisco Jazz Collective featuring Joe Lovano and Dave Douglas, Carlos Santana, Toni Braxton, Bob Geldof and Sharon ones and the Dap-Kings among many other top names of jazz, soul, funk and R&B.
