Sankai Juku: Hbiki SPAIN MADRID • Teatro Albeniz • 6 - 9 November 2008
Each work by Japanese choreographer Sankai Juku is an attempt to ponder the immeasurable passing of time. In Hbiki (Resonance from Far Away), first of all there is tranquility. Then drops of water drum a slow rhythm, as in the music of composer Yoichiro Yoshikawa and jazz pianist Takashi Kako. In Amagatsu’s heavenly landscape, the dancers - striking shaven-headed figures covered in white make-up - focus and restrain their movements almost without touching.
