77 composers and 34 concerts performed by 13 leading ensembles –instrumental and vocal– 3 orchestras, 8 soloists, and meetings, seminars, workshops form a rich programme for the 52nd International Festival of Contemporary Music.
Curated by Luca Francesconi under the theme Roots / Future, the Festival opens with Stravinsky's Canticum Sacrum ad honorem Sancti Marci nominis that the Russian composer dedicated to Venice and which he conducted in 1956 with the Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice, present once more under the baton of Eliahu Inbal.
Other highlights include works by Iannis Xenakis, Luigi Nono, Luciano Berio, Helmut Lachenmann, Michele dall’Ongaro, Azio Corghi, Fabio Vacchi, Magnus Lindberg, Alessandro Solbiati, Kaija Saariaho, Hilda Paredes, Giacomo Manzoni, Bruno Maderna, Claudio Ambrosini Oliver Knussen, Luke Bedford, Dmitri Kourliandski, Julian Anderson, Andrea Sarto, Marco Antonio Perez Ramirez, Pierre Boulez, Luca Moscaand Gérard Grisey.
