Galleries from 25 countries in Europe, the USA, Central America, South Africa and Japan will be taking part in the 13th Art Forum Berlin – the International Fair for Contemporary Art. The jury assessed 121 galleries selected from more than 400 submissions. The event features works of art ranging from paintings, sculptures and installations, to video and photography, works on paper, editions and multimedia. Collectors, trade visitors and art lovers from around the world.
Parallel to the international fair for contemporary art runs the Month of Photography with exhibitions in important museums and exhibition centres. Under the overall title The Cult of the Artist the National Museums are presenting Andy Warhol, Joseph Beuys and Jeff Koons in their different locations. In the Rieck Hall at Hamburger Bahnhof, works from the Friedrich Christian Flick Collection and the collections of the National Museums in Berlin supplement the theme in the presentation I can't just slice off an ear every day – Decon-structing the Myth of the Artist. An absolute highlight, which will bring an international audience to Berlin, is the large Paul Klee exhibition – The Klee Universe – in the New National Gallery.
C/O Berlin: International Forum for Visual Dialogues presents the agnès b. Collection of Photography, while in the Helmut Newton Foundation the exhibition Pigozzi and the Paparazzi is looking at life in the limelight. The Martin-Gropius-Bau will draw many visitors with the exhibition The Tropics. Views from the Middle of the Globe as will Sculptures in the Park in the garden of the Haus am Waldsee, which is being renovated. At the end of October the Temporäre Kunsthalle in the centre of Berlin on Schlossplatz will open its doors with an installation by Candice Breitz.
