Prenez soin de vous was shown at the Bibliothèque nationale de France and at the Venice Biennale, and before that, M’as-tu vue at Beaubourg – exhibitions accompanied by numerous publications over the years. Sophie Calle appears amongst all these artistic productions, whether they are of literary, cinematographic or visual art nature.
For her first exhibition at the Centre for Fine Arts, the French artist presents a collection of her works - in particular those in which she herself appears in a truly autobiographic ritual. A voice accompanies the visitor and relates the story of this life, turning it into history.
Notice to visitors: Sophie Calle's work is mainly made of photographic work and of texts written in French. It was essential to show the artist's work in its original form. English speaking visitors will find a translated guideline in the visitor's guide at the entrance of the exhibition. During the show, visitors will hear the voice of Frédéric Mitterrand, writer, television presenter, nephew of the former French president François Mitterrand and author of the memoire La Mauvise Vie (2005).
