The Jacky Terrasson Trio with Ben Williams & Jamire Williams
Pianist Jacky Terrasson first began receiving notice as among jazz’s most promising young artists soon after he won the prestigious Thelonious Monk Piano Competition (1993) and recorded his self-titled debut (1994).
While Terrasson was turning heads working with such top-notch vocalists as Betty Carter, Dianne Reeves, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Jimmy Scott (arranging the tunes and performing on the singer’s 1996 album Heaven) and Cassandra Wilson (the pair co-led the 1997 Blue Note release Rendezvous), he was also making an impact with his solo career—recording a series of critically acclaimed discs: Reach (1995), Alive (1998) and What It Is (1999). The bandleader, composer, arranger and formidable piano player has been reaping plaudits throughout his career. His latest is a collection of French standards, A Paris, his fifth release on Bluenote Records.
