Based on what is arguably Christopher Isherwood’s finest novel, A Single Man tells the story of a literature professor (Firth) in early 60s LA, struggling with the sudden loss of his long time partner (Matthew Goode). According to Ford, his debut piece is not this year’s Brokeback Mountain, but is “…really a film about love and isolation that I think all of us feel…it’s very universal.” Fashion icon Tom Ford makes his directorial debut.
