Europe's most famous carnival consists of two weeks of sumptuous galas, processions, dinners, masquerade balls, theatre, music. Some events are private attracting the rich and famous. Most, however, are accessible to the public and bring buzz to San Marco Square, the theatres and the famous Venetian "campi", Lido, Mestre, Marghera and Riviera del Brenta (the Brenta Riviera). The Children's Carnival in Campo San Polo as well as shows, parades and historical processions in the ancient Venetian tradition of the famous Carnival will animate the entire city, islands, peninsula, and mainland with thousands of revelers disguised with masks and costumes.
