The ensemble of eight dancers is accompanied by nine musicians in the Kathak dance portions. Janaki Patrik, using her background in classical Kathak technique and Modern Dance, creates a movement vocabulary for the contemporary sections. The music includes scores by John Adams, Samuel Barber, and Pt. Birju Maharaj, with the live music directed by Pt. Ramesh Misra. The poetry includes chanting in Sanskrit, a 19th century poem, and W. H. Auden's Lullaby.
