The Parish Church of Stainz is located in the former Monastery of the Canons Regular of St. Augustine at Stainz and the later Castle of Stainz (Schloss Stainz). The church was first mentioned in 1245 in historic documents; in the 17th century the castle was built in its present form - the old Gothic church towers were preserved. The beautifully decorated church interior was only finished in late 18th century; the painting over the high altar depicting the torture of Saint Catherine is by Hans Adam Weissenkircher and the pulpit and several of the side altars were designed by the master sculptor Veit Königer.
The festival offers a shuttle bus service to this concert. The price is EUR 10,- per person; the bus leaves at 7 p.m. in front of the Opera House Graz (Franz-Graf-Allee); return journey after the concert.
