Inspired by Pete Seeger’s desire to clean up the Hudson River over forty years ago, Clearwater's Great Hudson River Revival (Clearwater Festival) initially helped raise the funds to build the sloop Clearwater, which has since becomea floating classroom and a symbol of effective grassroots action.
Artists confirmed so far include: Loudon Wainwright III, Ani DiFranco, Bela Fleck, Martin Sexton, Josh Ritter & The Royal City Band, Preservation Hall Jazz Band (celebrating their 50th anniversary), Arlo Guthrie & The Guthrie Family (celebrating Woody Guthrie's 100th birthday), Dawes, Deer Tick, Tinawiren, Punch Brothers, Balkan Beat Box, Joan Osborne & The Holmes Brothers, Alejandro Escovdeo, The Klezmatics, Donna The Buffalo, Peter Yarrow, Ollabelle, Tom Paxton, Aoife O'Donovan (of Crooked Still), Tim O'Brien, Toshi Reagon & Big Lovely, Raul Midon, Jill Sobule, Sara Watkins, Guy Davis Band, Joe Purdy, Melissa Ferrick, Holly Near among others.
