On display 90 photographs and documents by the renowed photographer from the Marche region (Senigallia, 1925 - 2000), whose photographic art defies definition and whose pictures emphasize the emotional aspect of reality.
Throughout his life he considered himself to be primarily a typographer and yet is one of the greatest Italian photographer of the twentieth century since, in 1963, the curator of photography at the MoMA in New York acquired for the Museum the Scanno series, including a photograph in the prestigious catalogue Looking at Photographs.
“Io non ritraggo paesaggi, ma i segni e la memoria dell'esistenza” (I don't do portraits of the land, but the signs and memories of the existence)
The show is curated by Walter Liva and a fully illustrated catalogue in Italian is available.
