Malick Pathé Sow, vocals, guitar Bao Sissoko, vocals, kora
They have their roots in Senegal and they’re both from families of griots, or storytellers, who keep the West African traditions alive. Malick Pathé Sow has a warm voice and plays hudu, the West African lute, with which he has accompanied Baaba Maal, among others. In Europe he met Bao Sissoko, who is his perfect match both as a vocalist and as a player of the kora, the African harp. Their recent duo album Aduna contains subtle, trance-like songs which go beyond language barriers.
