The David Kweksilber Big Band features the best Dutch musicians from major orchestras and ensembles alongside improvisers such as guitarist Wiek Hijmans, trombone player Wolter Wierbos and pianist Guus Janssen. They play improvisations, big band classics and new compositions. Tonight’s performance features a premiere of the latest work by Klas Torstensson, composer in residence at Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ during the 2012/13 concert season. This composition, which leaves room for improvisation, was commissioned by the David Kweksilber Big Band.
