Travel Tip: Art and Archaeology in Belgium Sins and Miracles

Pecados y Milagros ou Sins and Miracles, the title of the album of one of Mexican’s famous singers, Lila Downs, formed the inspiration for this provocative exhibition. Fifteen contemporary Mexican artists present their versions of the traditional votif paintings. These popular small paintings were made to express gratitude to religious figures that made a miracle happen. These contemporary reinterpretations will be exhibited together with a unique selection of the original historical pieces, both from private and public collections, dating from the mid-19th century to the present.
