The Lifework of Gunnar Aagaard Andersen

The Lifework of Gunnar Aagaard Andersen
COPENHAGEN  •  Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art  •  Ongoing
This exhibition aims to reintroduce artist and designer Gunnar Aagaard Andersen (1919 – 1982). Curated by Jørgen Michaelsen and Vibeke Petersen, the show presents Aagaard Andersen’s visual thought processes and illustrates how the artist guides his audiences visually and sensually through his extensive creative, qualitative and methodological body of work. The central theme of the exhibition is his pioneering work on the relationship between art and design. The exhibition  features all aspects of Gunnar Aagaard Andersen’s work, from sketches to the finished articles and will provide insights into his scenographic visions, graphic layouts, his famous polyurethane furniture, paintings, wallpaper patterns and carpets, amongst others.
