Portraits of Mediterranean Women
Seventeenth-century Venice. Merchant ships sail all over the Mediterranean. Echoes of the viola da gamba and lute respond to the far-off voices of mysterious Asia. The French ensemble The Baroque Nomade pays tribute to the women of this region by playing traditional Turkish music, improvisations and works by the Italian composers Castello, Cima and Rossi.
