Professor Touraj Daryaee considers the history and importance of Cyrus the Great (c. 550–529 B.C.), a king of Persia who founded the Achaemenian Empire, the world's first empire. A screening of Recreating Pasargadae: Cyrus the Great’s Paradise follows the lecture. The film presents for the first time a glimpse into Cyrus’s palaces and gardens at Pasargadae, comprehensively reconstructed through modern digital high-resolution imagery and state-of-the-art computer and visual media.
