Cortona: The Dawn of the Etruscan Princes

Cortona: The Dawn of the Etruscan Princes
FLORENCE  •  Museo Archeologico di Firenze  •  Ongoing

Excavation campaigns in the Archaeological Park of Cortona have uncovered the objects of the second funerary circle of Sodo, made up of more than 15 intact graves dating between the end of the Seventh Century and the beginning of the Sixth Century BC that have undergone restoration. On display in the exhibition Cortona: The Dawn of Etruscan Princes, they aim at offering a journey that brings visitors 2700 years back until the dawn of the Etruscan civilization in Cortona.

2700 years ago, Cortona was a multi-cultural centre, with Umbrian, Italic and Etruscan features, but also open to the charm of Greek and Eastern culture.

The exhibition is accompanied by a scientific catalogue.
