The African Children’s Choir (ACC) is in New York City for their 5th Annual fundraising gala at City Winery. The children present a night of traditional African song and dance. This year, the children are joined by Broadway's Saycon Sengbloh who currently stars as Martha Reeves in Motown The Musical and honorary guest Connie Britton of ABC’s, Nashville. ACC will be awarding Connie Britton with the ChangeMakers Award for her continuous support of the Choir.
The African Children’s Choir is made up of children from the poorest countries of the world who have lost one or both parents to poverty or disease. Since its inception in 1984 over 52,000 children have been educated through the efforts of the Choir’s programs and over 100,000 people have been helped through their relief and development programs throughout the 7 countries the organization serves.
Their voices have been heard by world leaders and top entertainers, and most recently, they performed the official Diamond Jubilee song “Sing” composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Gary Barlow at the British Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
