Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenca
NEW YORK • Joe's Pub at The Public • 18 - 22 February 2014
|The Bessie Award-winning dancer Soledad Barrio and her company, Noche Flamenca, perform another show that combines live music with song and dance. |
The Noche Flamenca retrospective at Joe's Pub includes portions of Antigona, a new piece that mines the life of Sophocles' ancient Greek heroine. This piece is co-directed by downtown theater icon Lee Breuer (The Gospel at Colonus, Oedipus at Colonus, Animations).
Founded in Madrid in 1993 by director Martín Santangelo and his wife Soledad Barrio, Noche Flamenca, along with the captivating rhythms of Soledad Barrio, is internationally recognized as one of Spain’s most respected troups. All aspects of flamenco; dance, song, and music, are interrelated and given equal weight in the presentations of Noche Flamenca.
