|Dutch National Ballet's new, full-length production of The Tempest. For this special production, Krzysztof Pastor, resident choreographer with Dutch National Ballet, has been freely inspired by Shakespeare’s play of the same name. Pastor has worked on this production with film and video artists Shirin Neshat and Shoja Azari. The Iranian artist Neshat is known mainly for the subtle yet revealing way she exposes the isolated position of women in the Islamic world.
For The Tempest, Pastor and Neshat will use compositions by Henry Purcell, Thomas Tallis, Michel van der Aa and others, as well as traditional Iranian music. The musical accompaniment is provided by Holland Symfonia, conducted by Matthew Rowe. With: Dave ten Kate (countertenor) and Abbas Bakhtiari (daf player).
