This major exhibition of the American artist Alex Katz is the first European exhibition devoted solely to his portraits. It can be said that Katz's best-known and most representative works are his portraits. Katz is recognized as a painter of people, of his world, or more accurately, of many overlapping worlds -- the world of his family, particularly his wife, Ada, whom he has depicted countless times, the New York world of artists, poets, dancers and critics, the worlds of fashion and style.
