"Cross that River, the Saga of Blue." Jazz vocalist Alan Harris debuts his new and all original score, depicting the life of Blue, an escaped slave from Louisiana who seeks freedom in the West, and becomes one of America's true Black Cowboys in an epic tale about the role of African Americans in the Wild West. Along with Harris' lead vocals and acoustic, slide and electric guitars, he has brought together an unusual group of musicians to tell this story. There is a strong jazz foundation in the bass and guitar playing of John Flaughers and Miles Okazaki, melded with that of bluegrass in the banjo and mandolin playing of Terry McGill & Bob Carroon and influenced by the Jewish/Iranian background of violinist Russell Farhang. Background singers Maya Azucena, Arlee Leonard and Tim Ellis add a strong R&B/jazz flavor.
