Concerto Barocco
Choreography: Balanchine
Afternoon of a Faun
Choreography: Robbins
Tchaikovsky pas de deux
Choreography: Balanchine
Serenade
Choreography: Balanchine
All four works are particularly outstanding, from the dazzling Tchaikovsky pas de deux, to Serenade, created in 1934 for an evanescent corps de ballet and soloists in the purest "white" tradition, and which remains amongst the most spectacular and widely performed of all Balanchine's works. This beautiful programme, with the later Giselle and La Sylphide surely ranks as one of the 'musts' of the season.
