Some 400 works on view with sculptures by Canova, Rodin, Martini, Bourgeois;
paintings by Ingres, Degas, Courbet, Renoir, Cézanne, Picasso, Schiele, Klimt, Modigliani, Dix, Delvaux, Bacon, Dubuffet, Freud, Hockney, Warhol and Baselitz; photography by Nadar, Stieglitz, Man Ray, Weston, Mapplethorpe and Goldin among others.
The majority of the works in this ambitious exhibition are on loan from leading international museums like the Tate Gallery, the Victoria & Albert Museum of London, the Museé de l'Orangérie, Museé D'Orsay, the Centre Georges Pompidou of Paris, the Ludwig Museum of Cologne, the Metropolitan Museum of New York, the National Gallery of Modern Art of Rome and the Von Der Heydt-Museum of Wuppertal.
