Stan Douglas's intricate and emotive film installations are concerned with complex psychological states such as repressed collective memories, forgotten histories and social alienation.
The Serpentine Gallery presentation includes three recent works: Der Sandmann (1995), Le Détroit (2000), and a major new piece, Journey into Fear (2001), shown as a work in progress at the Istanbul Biennale, which, in its completed version, will have its world premiere at the Serpentine Gallery.
