Portugese Fado star Cristina Branco and her husband Custodio Castelo perform in concert. He accompanies her on Portuguese guitar and composes most of the fados she sings. Their songs alternate the fatalistic melancholy of saudade, so evocative of Portugal’s maritime past, with joyful and subtly jaunty pieces.
